Building Renovation
Athens, Georgia

The former Athens Blueprint building reclaims its place downtown with a renovation that uncovers the building’s early use as a service station and reinforces its presence on a primary corner. Layers of past alterations have been peeled away to reveal elements of the original structure and new features elevate existing Art Deco motifs. A reorganized facade introduces clarity to the interior space, creating a bright, flexible environment suited for a multitude of future tenant types while maintaining a connection to the building’s history. Outside, a newly added patio extends the usable footprint, offering an inviting space at the sidewalk’s edge. The patio railing design echoes the profile of an original metal column that still supports the canopy roof. Thoughtful interventions ensure the building’s renewed role in the city’s architectural landscape, embracing its history while positioning it for another era of use.
