This renovation project reimagines a house set deep in the woods of Oconee County through a series of thoughtful additions and small interventions throughout the home. The scope includes a new two-car garage and a sunroom constructed above a tractor restoration workshop, carefully set into the site’s steeply sloping terrain. By taking advantage of the natural grade, the new sunroom is elevated into the forest, creating a space suspended in the tree canopy. With views into the surrounding woods, it offers a quiet retreat for reading, conversation, and watching birds move through the forest. The room’s proportions and openings are designed to emphasize comfort and intimacy while maintaining a strong visual connection to the landscape. The architectural language of the existing house guided the design of the addition, ensuring continuity between old and new.
