Campbellton House
House Renovation
Watkinsville, Georgia

This renovation project reimagines a house set deep in the woods of Oconee County through a series of thoughtful additions and small interventions throughout the home. The scope includes a new two-car garage and a sunroom constructed above a tractor restoration workshop, carefully set into the site’s steeply sloping terrain. By taking advantage of the natural grade, the new sunroom is elevated into the forest, creating a space suspended in the tree canopy. With views into the surrounding woods, it offers a quiet retreat for reading, conversation, and watching birds move through the forest. The room’s proportions and openings are designed to emphasize comfort and intimacy while maintaining a strong visual connection to the landscape. The architectural language of the existing house guided the design of the addition, ensuring continuity between old and new. Materials, rooflines, and detailing were considered to allow the new work to feel like a natural extension of the original structure. The result is a renovation that enhances daily life while respecting both the character of the house and its woodland setting.
