Creek View House
New Construction House
Oconee County, Georgia

Set just inside a treeline, this cabin occupies a quiet threshold between two landscapes. In one direction, the site looks toward a wooded creek; in the other, it opens to a broad pasture. The cabin is carefully oriented so that morning, afternoon, and evening activities each find their ideal relationship to light, view, and weather. The design draws equally from the taut, wood-framed forms of the houses in Sea Ranch, California, and the turn-of-the-century rural houses of Oconee County, whose deep porches and generous roof overhangs offer shelter from rain and shade from the summer sun while extending the maintenance life of the building. These familiar vernacular elements are reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, resulting in a structure that feels both grounded and quietly modern. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, the cabin is intentionally modest in scale yet rich in experience. Designed as a retreat, it offers a place for its owner to slow down, reconnect with the landscape, and establish rhythms that will deepen over time.
