Lake House Renovation

Lake Oconee, Greensboro, Georgia

Sited on a picturesque point along Lake Oconee, this lake house renovation transforms a long-loved ranch-style vacation home into a full-time retreat. Prioritizing the breathtaking sunset views and sweeping vistas of the lake and Reynolds Plantation beyond, the redesign embraces indoor-outdoor living with a host of thoughtfully designed features. The street-side facade welcomes with improved curb appeal, while the lakeside facade features define the essence of the project. on the lakeside, a new pool, outdoor kitchen, expansive elevated patio, covered porch, and an elevated deck all create spaces for relaxation and entertaining, framing the water and the evening colors on the western horizon.  Inside, the reimagined layout maximizes comfort and livability. A new great room unifies the kitchen, scullery, dining, and flexible living spaces, each oriented to capture uninterrupted views of the lake and its mesmerizing sunsets. A sleek new bar curves gracefully toward the covered porch, fostering a natural flow between indoor and outdoor spaces that makes entertaining effortless.  Private areas of the home reflect the same level of care. The primary suite offers a serene sanctuary, where an uncluttered design allows for calm and focus. A large sliding glass door connects the bedroom directly to the pool and porch, keeping the lake just steps away. New office and exercise spaces, carved from existing bedrooms, meet the practical demands of full-time living. Modern lake life calls for ample storage, and the new three-car garage with space above accommodates everything from boats and water skis to golf carts and cars. This addition, along with the rest of the home, ensures every detail of lake living is met with elegance and functionality.  Lake house architecture does not have a backside - the street facing facade is as important as the lake facing facade. Patch takes great care as a lake house architect to balance the internal requirements of the house with the exterior features to create a balanced composition. We really enjoyed making the lake the focal point at every turn in this design.
