White Oak Glen
New Construction House
Hull, Georgia

Nestled within a stand of mature white oaks, this new residence is carefully set onto a ridge overlooking a spring-fed creek. The house is shaped by its landscape, responding to both the gentle slope of the site and the surrounding forest. Drawing inspiration from midcentury California homes and Japanese architecture, the design emphasizes openness, restraint, and a close relationship to nature. Expanses of glass in the great room frame long views into the woods and allow the interior to feel immersed in the landscape. Each bedroom opens directly to the outdoors through large sliding glass doors, reinforcing a connection with the forest. A hallway extending from the great room doubles as a gallery for the owners’ collection of Japanese prints, illuminated by north-facing windows that provide soft, even daylight ideal for art display. Spaces for gathering and hosting are woven throughout the house. A sunken living room centers on a fireplace, while a large screened porch and outdoor kitchen extend living space into the landscape. An exterior fireplace and forest viewing deck offer places to linger outdoors, making the house equally suited for quiet retreat and generous hospitality.
