Why Draw by Hand?
Drawing by hand allows time to consider each aspect of the design. Creating a drawing requires consideration of details both large and small within the overall composition. Drawing by hand forces the architect to consider the context of the building. When drawing by hand, each building element contains a specificity that contributes to the overall design. Said another way —
when you draw it, why not draw exactly what you want?

. . . because when you are imagining you might as well imagine something worthwhile.

CAD In Our Design Process
Even though CAD programs play a role in our design process, CAD programs only support the design; CAD does not create the design. Drawing by hand allows the design to break free from the constraints of 3D modeling and the curse of COPY/PASTE. During the design process, we sketch by hand and confirm with CAD, moving the project from general outline to specific details.
